Tickets are now on sale for the 2012 New Zealander of the Year Gala Awards Presentation
The winners of the five Award categories will be announced at the Gala Dinner which is to be held at the Langham Hotel in Auckland on Thursday 16th February 2012.
The Gala includes a three course dinner, beverages & fantastic entertainment featuring The Babysitters Circus and Lucy Lawless with the Tuxedo Swing Band.

Local Heroes Medal Recipients
Throughout March 2011 we held 25 Local Heroes Medal Presentations across New Zealand.

The Kiwibank Local Heroes rewards everyday people doing extraordinary things in their local communities and recognises the enormous contribution, sacrifice and commitment of Kiwis who selflessly work to make their local communities a better place. Kiwibank would like you to honour someone you know who is making a contribution to their region, town, suburb, community or local group by nominating them in this award category.
Local Heroes may be involved in business, leadership, voluntary work, community and environmental groups, education, sporting clubs, working with the disadvantaged or have displayed courage in overcoming a personal adversity. Whatever their field of endeavours we need to recognise these unsung heroes and say thank you for their inspiration and contribution.
The Local Heroes Awards celebrated one national winner at the Gala Awards Presentation Dinner on the 2nd February 2011. This award also recognises Local Heroes at a regional level by awarding up to 250 Kiwibank Local Heroes medals in 25 regions across New Zealand. Kiwibank Local Heroes medals were presented at special ceremonies in each of the 25 regions during March 2011.

Winners Announced!
The New Zealander of the Year Awards, along with our Award partners, would like to congratulate each of our winners across the five categories of this year’s awards.
From a pool of over 500 nominees, the contributions and dedication of the following five outstanding finalists shone through. Their sacrifice and commitment to community and national pride make them perfect ambassadors for New Zealand and worthy recipients of these awards.
